By Attempts by several cinemas across the globe to impose their own intermission into Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” have been shut down by distributor Paramount Pictures.
An eight-minute intermission was reportedly put in place at one Colorado theater and in numerous international territories on the period crime epic which clocks in at a large 206-minute runtime.
Doing so however is considered a violation of the domestic licensing agreement for the project, leading to them being swiftly shut down by the studio.
The film’s three-time Oscar-winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker spoke about it with The Standard, saying running the film with an intermission “is not right” and “a violation”.
The film has been rolled out to 10,000 theaters globally, almost all of which had no problem running the film as intended. Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone star in the film which is expected to be one of the biggest awards contenders this year.
Now in cinemas, the film will debut on Apple TV+ at a later date that has not yet been disclosed.
