Disney Pictures has premiered a clip from the new song “Waiting on a Wish” that appears in their upcoming live-action “Snow White” feature.
“La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman” composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul created the song which is sung by Rachel Zegler’s Snow White in the film and is said to be the big new track for the movie.
So far the song appears to have met a mixed reception going by online comments. Some of the original songs by Frank Churchill and Larry Morey, including “Heigh-Ho” and “Whistle While You Work,” also appear in the remake.
Alongside Zegler, the film also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan. The original “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is considered Disney’s first major successful animated feature and kicked off the studio’s line-up of fairytale animated features.
The remake has been plagued by controversy over set photos, reshoot talk, pandemic-related delays and comments by its two stars. A trailer launch three weeks ago resulted in the clip scoring just 33,000 likes as compared to 823,000 dislikes as of today.
Marc Webb directs from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. “Snow White” opens in cinemas March 21st.
