Just because it’s a holiday weekend, it doesn’t mean there hasn’t been at least one or two wild Marvel or DC rumours floating around.
Today’s big one comes from scooper MTTSH (via CBM) who claims that an “Excalibur” TV series is in development at Marvel Studios. It’s not clear if this is animated of live-action.
Chris Claremont and Alan Davis created the England-based superhero team in the late 1980s, originally conceived as an off-shoot of the X-Men.
The group included Captain Britain, the Elemental named Meggan Puceanu, and three former members of the X-Men: Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Rachel Summers.
The team were replaced in 2008 with Claremont penning another Excalibur series, this time with Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto setting out to rebuild the mutant homeland of Genosha.
An “Excalibur” movie was rumored a while back with Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman/Black Knight from “Eternals” said to figure into that incarnation. Marvel fans have long fan cast former Superman actor Henry Cavill as Captain Britain for many years.
