James Gunn’s DC Universe kicks off with the animated series “Creature Commandos” which launches on Max on December 5th.
Press rounds for the series began the other day and while Gunn has spoken a bit about it and his greater DCU plans, showrunner Dean Lorey has now discussed the series and where it will go.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Lorey was asked about the possibility of a second season. From the sounds of it they’re keen to do it, and they aren’t intending to be overly ambitious with a grand plan that potentially won’t pan out:
“Yeah, we absolutely want to do a second season. There’s no particular five-season plan or anything like that. But we definitely want to do another season. You will see, at the end of the first season, some of the characters that might be part of that, and there’s a lot of fun to come, I hope.”
The series takes place after the events of the first season of “Peacemaker” with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) no longer able to put human lives in jeopardy for her clandestine operations. Instead, she assembles a black ops team of monsters called the Creature Commandos led by General Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo).
Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, Zoë Chao, Sean Gunn, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk and Indira Varma lend their voices to the series. Reviews for the show will be published on December 2nd.
