Celebrated boutique home video label the Criterion Collection has announced CC40, a new Blu-ray box set with forty different titles from the collection.
The collection was inspired by their Criterion Closet videos with titles in the new collection the ones picked up the most by those who get to visit and pick their favorite releases.
The result is filmmakers ranging from past icons like Godard, Fellini, Kubrick and Powell & Pressburger, to more modern auteur greats like Wong Kar-wai, Spike Lee, Alfonso Cuaron, Gus van Sant, and Lynne Ramsey.
The box-set includes digital restorations of all forty films, hundreds of hours of supplemental features, and a 216-page book featuring essays on each film by critics, scholars, and authors.
