As we hit the halfway point of 2024 this weekend, over 100 critics and filmmakers have weighed in on the best films of the year so far in a poll at World of Reel.
There was one clear winner with Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” came in at No.1 with 43 mentions on the list and looks set to be a potential contender come awards time early next year.
Not too far behind though was George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” which snagged 40 votes, followed by Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” which nabbed 31 in third place.
Richard Linklater’s Netflix hit “Hit Man,” Rose Glass’ Kristen Stewart-led “Love Lies Bleeding,” and Alex Garland’s contentious “Civil War” took the fourth through sixth spots.
Smaller films rounded out the top ten with “La Chimera” and “I Saw the TV Glow” tied for seventh, “Evil Does Not Exist” in ninth and “The Beast” in tenth.
“Inside Out 2,” “The Fall Guy,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” “Late Night with the Devil,” “The Bikeriders” all made the Top 20, head over to World of Reel for the full list.
