The beloved Disney classic comes to “live-action” life as Walt Disney Studios releases the official trailer for their upcoming re-imagining of Pinocchio. View trailer below.
Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis directs this live action retelling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his “conscience”; Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John; Academy Award® nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman. Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston as Señor Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.
Much like the previous teaser trailer for the film, I’m quite curious to see this movie. As stated before, the Pinocchio narrative has been a beloved classic in Disney’s illustrious arsenal, and I was wondering when the studio was going to come around to remake this tale. This new trailer showcases plenty of new footage from the upcoming film, including shots of Pinocchio himself. While there has been a lot of talk of the film’s animation has been quite the talk via online criticisms, I don’t think it looks that particularly bad. Hopefully, that doesn’t deterrer viewers from watching this movie. In the end, I’m quite interested to see where this live action reimagining has to offer. Looking forward to seeing / reviewing it in September.
Pinocchio arrives on Disney+ on September 8th, 2022
