One of the big question marks remaining in 2024 when it comes to franchises is that of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”.
The series arrives on screens either towards year’s end of early next year, but there’s been no footage released from it as yet and only a handful of stills available.
As previously reported, the series is set during the Mandoverse era and is said to be Amblin-esque and akin to “The Goonies” with a group of kids who become lost in the “Star Wars” universe.
It sounds like the franchise’s equivalent of “Star Trek: Prodigy,” and boasts a strong cast including Jude Law, Kerry Condon, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Robert Timothy Smith, Ravi Cavot-Conyers and Kyrianna Kratter.
Condon herself, out promoting “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” tells Variety she had an absolute blast making the show:
“It’s so great. I don’t even have kids, but I’d pay to see this. I loved it. I loved being on it. There was something about it that was so innocent and playful and lovely.
People say don’t work with kids or animals, but I don’t know about that. And also when children are good actors, they’re kind of out-of-this-world good. So watching some of the kids’ scenes, it was amazing.
Jude Law’s in it and I’ve worked with him before. But it’s really adventurous and they got such great directors for each episode – the Daniels, Bruce Dallas Howard, Lee Isaac Cheung, David Lowery. It was a pretty amazing group. And of course, Jon Watts who created the whole thing.”
Oscar-nominated Condon is also starring in Joseph Kosinski’s F1 film which is currently in the works. Before “Skeleton Crew” gets here we’ll have two more forays into the “Star Wars” universe – the animated “Tales of the Empire” hitting next weekend and “The Acolyte” which debuts in June.
