The “Deadpool & Wolverine” film is trending on social media this weekend with much of the talk circling around two things.
The first is an apparent new piece of poster art which you can see below. The second is a report from scooper Daniel Richtman which goes into a new aspect of the Multiverse that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to explore on screen.
That aspect? The outlet says the new film will introduce the concept that in every universe there is one specific hero which, if they die or get removed from their universe, the entire universe will subsequently decay and ultimately vanish from existence.
Additionally, each universe will reportedly have a different hero – so there’s no two beings who are the same with this ability in the multiverse. The concept was introduced in the pages of Marvel Comics, the heroes known as ‘nexus beings’.
These beings can drastically alter probability and the Universal Time Stream and serve as a temporal anchor point for that reality in the multiverse. The Time Variance Authority watch over such beings.
This begs the obvious question as to whether Deadpool himself is the nexus being for the X-Men Universe at 20th Century Fox.
The film sees Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return as Deadpool and Wolverine respectively, whilst Emma Corrin is set to portray the movie’s main villain, Cassandra Nova.
Several Marvel films will deal with multiverse shenanigans in coming years, from “Shang-Chi 2” and “Fantastic Four” rumored to sport time travel elements, to two “Avengers” films featuring the multiverse and a possible “Doctor Strange 3”.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in theaters on July 26th.
