Commando and The Road Warrior star Vernon Wells and Trick or Treat’s Marc Price are the latest genre favorites to join Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light, the upcoming eighteenth movie in the long-running horror franchise. Wells is coming aboard in a particularly notable capacity, joining the movie as both a cast member and an executive producer.
Genre fans probably don’t need much of an introduction to Vernon Wells. The Australian actor made an unforgettable impression as Wez in George Miller’s The Road Warrior, before taking on another iconic villainous role as Bennett in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Commando. Wells remained a familiar face throughout the ’80s, appearing in Weird Science and Innerspace, and later introduced himself to another generation of genre fans as Ransik in Power Rangers Time Force.
Now he’s bringing that genre pedigree to Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light. Director Carissa Pierson called Wells a legend whose work has inspired generations of movie fans, adding that his experience, presence and passion will be valuable additions to the production.
Marc Price is also stepping back into the horror world, and his casting arrives at an appropriate time. Price is best known to television audiences for playing Skippy Handelman on Family Ties, but horror fans know him as Eddie “Ragman” Weinbauer in Trick or Treat. The cult favorite follows Price’s bullied teenage character after he becomes caught up in a supernatural nightmare involving a heavy metal record and the spirit of deceased rocker Sammi Curr. Trick or Treat celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
In The Lanterne of Light, Price plays Blake, a reporter covering the paranormal investigation team Unmasking the Paranormal. The group heads into the North Carolina wilderness to investigate the legend surrounding the Lanterne of Light, an ancient manuscript connected to a sinister cult known as the Children of the Hollow. What begins as a paranormal investigation soon turns into a fight for survival.
Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light Has a Growing Genre Cast
Wells and Price join a cast that already has plenty of recognizable names for horror and genre fans. As previously reported, Eric Roberts plays Professor Churchill and is joined by Lisa Wilcox, best known as Alice Johnson in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, while Sandy Johnson returns to the horror world after playing Judith Myers in John Carpenter’s original Halloween.
The cast also includes Kato Kaelin, Andrew Pierson, and Kristina Lafser.
What Is Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light About?
Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light is being directed by Carissa Pierson from a screenplay by Andrew Pierson. The story follows a paranormal investigation team as they venture into the forests of North Carolina to investigate the Children of the Hollow, a mysterious cult tied to the ancient Lanterne of Light manuscript.
The production is aiming for a darker, more atmospheric approach to the long-running Witchcraft series, with principal photography scheduled to begin in North Carolina in October 2026 and a 2027 release planned.
