DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is sticking with the studio.
Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins at DC Studios back in 2022 with four-year deals that were then later extended by a year into Spring/Summer 2027.
During the latest episode of the podcast The Hot Mic (via Comic Basics), scooper Jeff Sneider was asked about Gunn’s contract status at Warner Bros., with Sneider saying: “[Gunn] will [stick around]. He just extended.”
A recent report suggested that Gunn is among a small group of executives expected to keep their jobs following Warner Bros. Discovery’s merger with Paramount Skydance.
Sneider indicates that the report only became possible to publish because Gunn had recently renewed his contract. What’s not clear is how long that extension will be.
Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison is also said to be notably supportive of the direction Gunn and Safran have charted for DC with “Man of Tomorrow,” “Creature Commandos” Season 2, “Clayface,” “The People v. Gorilla Grodd” and potentially “Booster Gold” all in the works.
