The apparent shortlist of actors testing for the role of the new James Bond has emerged with Page Six reporting that six names will participate in screen tests in early September.

The outlet also indicates there is already a frontrunner who is, mostly, a genuine unknown – Jack Barton.
The 31-year-old has mostly been seen in recurring roles in shows such as “Heartstopper,” “SAS: Rogue Heroes” and “Talamasca: The Secret Order” along with a tiny role in “Poor Things”.

Their source claims “he’s the one” that director Denis Villeneuve and casting director Nina Gold are warm on following a scouring of the UK to find someone to play the new 007.

Barton will reportedly go up against the others on the shortlist that includes Jack Lowden (“Slow Horses”), Callum Turner (“Fantastic Beasts”), Jacob Elordi (“Frankenstein”), Paul Mescal (“Gladiator II”) and Harris Dickinson (“Triangle of Sadness”).

Amazon reportedly declined comment and referred the outlet to its prior statement saying they don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process.
