Josh Brolin says that not only is a third “Sicario” film finally happening, but filming is slated to begin on it “soon”.
Speaking with Screen Rant while out promoting Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars” opening next Friday, Brolin says the film “is happening” with production to kick off “soon”.
Brolin revealed a year ago that the film was finally looking “very, very real” after previous speculation over the years that even he had dismissed in the past.
Denis Villeneuve helmed the first while Stefano Sollima directed the sequel so locking down a director would be key for a third. “Mission Impossible” filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie was attached for a while but Brolin confirmed he was no longer involved back in 2024.
“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan penned the films but his involvement is also in question as he’s rather busy these days running a TV empire.
Brolin starred in the first two films as Matt Graver, a CIA SAC officer who works as part of a covert task force to combat Mexican drug cartels along the Mexico-United States border. He was aided by Benicio del Toro’s Alejandro Gillick in his efforts.
