“Heartstopper” and “Warfare” star Kit Connor is reportedly in talks to play Cyclops in Jake Schreier’s upcoming “X-Men” film at Marvel Studios reports Deadline.

Sources for the trade say the studio ultimately landed on Connor last week after meeting with a number of candidates.

“The Long Walk” and “I Want Your Sex” star Cooper Hoffman was previously rumored as the ‘top choice’ to play Scott Summers/Cyclops but none of the trades gave any credence to the report.

He marks the third X-Men role to be cast in the MCU following Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and a spoiler role in the new “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” film.

James Marsden and Tye Sheridan have previously played Cyclops in the prior “X-Men” films and Marsden will reprise the role in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday”.

Filming on the new “X-Men” film isn’t expected to get underway until sometime next year, though pre-production could commence before the end of the year. Sonny Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”) and Joanna Calo (“The Bear”) recently boarded the project to write a new draft of Michael Lesslie’s script.
