Ralph Ineson (“Nosferatu,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”), Corey Stoll (“House of Cards,” “Billions”) and Nyasha Hatendi (“Seven Dials,” “Swan Song”) have all joined the cast of the new Monsterverse TV series at Legendary and Apple TV.
The currently untitled project is essentially a spin-off of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” with Wyatt Russell leading the cast and reprising his role of a young Colonel Lee Shaw.
While the main “Monarch” series primarily jumps between events in the 1950s and the 2010s, the new series will be set in 1984 – two years after Shaw re-emerges from Axis Mundi.
In this, Shaw goes on a secret mission behind enemy lines to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
Millie Brady and Pilou Asbæk also star in the series which is said to be in the early stages of production.
Russell also serves as the show’s executive producer alongside Joby Harold, who will serve as the showrunner. Tory Tunnell, Chris Black, Kyle Bradstreet, Alex Boden, Dillard, Andy Goddard, James Skotchdopole, Hiro Matsuoka, and Takemasa Arita will also serve as executive producers.
