The two-hour pilot for a reboot of “The X-Files” may go a different path than expected – to the big screen.
We know Hulu hasn’t officially greenlit the project to series as yet; so far only the pilot was shot, which was both written and directed by Coogler.
The work was reportedly shot on 65mm film by Oscar-winning “Sinners” lenser Autumn Durald Arkapaw. Very, very few TV shows have been shot on 65mm with the recent third season of HBO’s “Euphoria” being one.
Now, World of Reel is reporting that Coogler has asked Disney to consider potentially turning the pilot into a feature film.
They indicate the studio has not yet made a decision, especially since the series as a whole has not yet been greenlit.
Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel star in the film about two accomplished yet contrasting FBI agents who are thrust together when they’re assigned to a long-defunct division specializing in mysterious, unexplained cases.
Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi and Ben Foster also appear in the pilot.
