A new report has suggested that DC Studios is developing a TV series focusing on the Batman villain Poison Ivy, but not in the way you might think.
On this week’s edition of The Hot Mic, scooper Jeff Sneider says that the project is definitely moving forward at the studio.
More surprisingly though, he claims it will be set not in the Gunn DC Universe but in Matt Reeves’ Batman-verse where his “The Batman” film and its “The Penguin” spin-off series reside.
Though slightly stylised, both those works were built with a grounded ‘real world’ sensibility which means only certain villains from Batman’s canon could work.
Poison Ivy could easily take on a more grounded approach, namely a botanist who becomes a cunning ecoterrorist with survival skills and rich knowledge of toxins which she can weaponise.
That would be quite different to the more fantastical green-skinned, plant-controlling version from the comics.
Then again, Reeves’ second “The Batman” film is rumored to contain more ‘comic book-style’ elements.
