FOX has announced that its upcoming “Baywatch” reboot won’t be coming this year after all.

While the hope had been that the show would be ready for the Fall, the network unveiled its next season slate on a conference call yesterday with media and revealed the show is now targeting a late January 2027 debut.

Stephen Amell, Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell, Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader star while Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi will reprise their roles from the original.

Michael Thorn, president of the Fox broadcast channel, says:

“There’s only one Baywatch. It’s one of the most iconic, popular television franchises in TV history. We have a rich history and of launching series midseason… it goes all the way back to 24 and Empire and the 9-1-1s and The Resident. Obviously, Baywatch is a huge, huge priority for us, and we think we have a great opportunity to set the show up for success [in midseason].”

The series is one of only two new scripted series FOX has ordered for next season, the other being the Stephen Fry-led “The Interrogator” about a former MI6 agent running a team to unlock the minds of dangerous criminals.
