The Copenhagen Test
Peacock has cancelled its Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera-led espionage thriller “The Copenhagen Test” after just one season. All eight episodes of the series were released on the streamer just after Christmas.
Reviews were mostly positive for the series, but it failed to capture much of an audience – hitting #10 on the Nielsen Top 10 in its launch week with 373 million minutes viewed, and not charting again. [Source: Variety]
NCIS: New York
CBS has announced “NCIS: New York,” the latest spin-off series in the franchise with LL Cool J reprising his role Special Agent Sam Hanna as he “returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office”. R. Scott Gemmill (“NCIS: LA”) will serve as showrunner.
Scott Caan also stars and helps “lead a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the most vital cities and ports in the world.” The series will air 9pm Tuesdays, between “NCIS” at 8pm and “NCIS: Origins”/”NCIS: Sydney” at 10pm. [Source: CBS]
Dexter: Resurrection
Dan Stevens (“Godzilla x Kong,” “The Guest”) has been cast as a serial killer named The Five Borough Killer in the upcoming second season of “Dexter: Resurrection” on the Paramount+ service. He marks the second big new casting for the season alongside Brian Cox as The New York Ripper.
The character is described as a “serial killer who, much like Zodiac, taunts the police with phone calls threatening the murder of innocent citizens. When he follows through with the awful deeds…the city and the police are terrorised.”
The Terror: Devil in Silver
Speaking of Dan Stevens, the trailer has been released for the third season of AMC’s “The Terror” anthology series, this one titled “The Terror: Devil in Silver” and premiering May 7th.
Based on Victor LaValle’s novel, it follows a working-class moving man who finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital and must navigate a hellscape where the Devil himself might be.
Rivals
Hulu’s award-winning series “Rivals” will return for its second season on May 15th with a three-episode premiere and a new trailer has just been released. The second season continues the adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s beloved novel and will return in two six-episode batches. The second batch will follow later in the year on Disney+.
In the new season, and more ruthless than ever, Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) is determined to dismantle his rivals piece-by-piece, weaponising scandal and manipulating those closest to him to maintain his grip on power. Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, and Victoria Smurfit return while Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett join the fray as guest stars.
Good Omens
Finally, the trailer has been released for the 90-minute finale film based on Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens”. A millennia-long friendship has been fractured ever since Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) accepted the offer to return to Heaven, leaving Crowley (David Tennant) behind.
Now, as the newly appointed Supreme Archangel, Aziraphale is tasked with overseeing the Second Coming, a responsibility that weighs heavily on him. Rachel Talalay directs the finale which premieres May 13th.
