Anya Chalotra (“The Witcher”), Kyle Soller (“Andor”), Stephen Dillane (“Game of Thrones”), Ian Hart (“The Mosquito Coast”), and Niamh Algar (“Raised by Wolves”) have all signed on to star in the next “Luther” movie at Netflix.

The project follows on from the success of 2023’s Netflix feature “Luther: The Fallen Sun,” which continued the five-season-strong 2010-2019 BBC series starring Idris Elba as DCI John Luther.

In the new film, a new wave of brutal, seemingly random murders hits London and Luther (Elba) is secretly called back into service. But how can he save London when everyone on all sides seems to want him dead?

Series creator Neil Cross pens the new film with Ruth Wilson reprising her iconic role of genius serial killer and love interest Alice Morgan, while Dermot Crowley will also be back as Luther’s boss, Superintendent Martin Schenk.

Character specifics for the new actors are under wraps. Franchise veteran Jamie Payne is directing the project that will begin filming this month.

Shooting on the first film began 15 months prior to airing, suggesting a potential late Spring/Summer 2027 release date.
