Who doesn’t love a good UFO documentary? I like them, I love seeing them, especially the slack-jawed yokels that were probed. Well, this isn’t that, but it’s about documents and footage from after WWII.

I’ve always loved the fact that cameras have got infinitely better, but UFO sightings have gone down. There’s a government conspiracy in there somewhere. The rest about Lost Contact: UFOs After Wartime is from the press release.

Massillon, OH – In a new documentary of strange and unusual American history, Small Town Monsters digs into the tragic story of World War 2 pilot Thomas Mantell Jr., the only known member of the US Military to lose their life while pursuing a UFO.

Set against the backdrop of historical World War II era sightings, viewers are given the full story of Mantell’s honourable life and tragic death. Startling revelations await in Lost Contact: UFOs After Wartime, including one undeniable truth: Not all heroes die on the battlefield.

Records suggest that UFO encounters were prevalent across multiple theatres during World War II. However, that’s not when the sightings ended. On January 7, 1948, WWII veteran Captain Thomas Mantell, Jr. lost his life while serving for the Kentucky Air National Guard as he chased an unidentified flying object. Lost Contact: UFOs After Wartime examines not only the timeline of events surrounding Mantell’s death, but also the long-lasting impact on his loved ones.

Lost Contact: UFOs After Wartime will launch exclusively on streaming platforms, including Prime Video and Vimeo on Demand, on October 7, 2025.
