It has taken a while to get here, but filming has finally finished on the second and final season of the “Star Wars” series “Andor”.
The production was heavily impacted by the strike. Filming began on the new season late 2022 shortly after the first season finished airing.
It was expected to run all the way until August 2023 followed by a full year of post-production, however the strikes led to filming being suspended several times. Production finally resumed in January.
Diego Luna, who stars as the show’s title character Cassian Andor, has released an Instagram post to mark the occasion, saying:
“Today is the last day of filming Andor. I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work.
More than 700 people have worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience.”
The second season will catch the show up to “Rogue One” and end the series. Though originally aiming for a late Summer 2024 bow, it’s believed the new run won’t arrive on screens until early 2025.
The first season saw a full-year gap between the end of filming and the new run’s premiere to accommodate post-production.
