“The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Ocean’s 12” scribe George Nolfi has come onboard to pen the screenplay for the new Daisy Ridley-centric “Star Wars” movie “New Jedi Order” at Lucasfilm and Disney.

Documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is due to make her narrative feature debut with the project, with Ridley reprising the role of Rey Skywalker.

At last report, the story will take place 15 years after the events in 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” with Ridley’s character training the next generation of Jedi.

Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were the first writers before Obaid-Chinoy was brought on. Ridley joined in April 2023, and then “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight took over scripting duties.

By late last year, he was no longer involved and script delays pushed back any production start plans. The hiring of Nolfi suggests the studio still has faith in the project.

Nolfi made his directorial debut with 2011’s “The Adjustment Bureau” and directed and co-wrote 2020’s period drama “The Banker”. He released the indie post-apocalyptic thriller “Elevation” last year.
