2025 is the 20th anniversary year of Revenge Of The Sith. The third prequel in the Star Wars franchise was released in 2005. To celebrate this, Lucasfilm has commissioned a new logo. It is very retro in feel, evoking some of the 70s aesthetic of some of the promotional material from the original release of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Revenge Of The Sith earned $868 million worldwide at the box office and is still in the top 75-grossing movies of all time. It was the second-highest-grossing prequel and the best-reviewed. Many fans today hold it up as the high point of the prequels.
I disagree. Revenge Of The Sith has to play out some of the most important and dramatic events in the Skywalker story, and it drops the ball on almost every single one of them. Even great actors like Ewan McGregor struggle to deliver against poorly thought out scenes, dreary direction, and truly terrible dialogue.
It is frequently eye-rolling and features the least convincing heel turn to happen anywhere outside the WWE.
Regardless of my opinions, fans are now talking about a potential re-release this year. Lucasfilm are yet to confirm any official plans to further mark the anniversary.
