For years, Jack Quaid has managed to have two steady TV leading man gigs – as the voice of Ensign Bradward Boimler in “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” and as Hughie Campbell in Amazon’s “The Boys”.
‘Lower Decks’ finished its run after five seasons a few weeks ago, and Quaid is now in production on the fifth and final season of “The Boys” which is expected to air sometime in 2026.
“The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke famously follows five-season plans so the series ending now is not unexpected. Speaking with THR, he says he’s glad the show gets to go out on its own terms – and in doing so saved the craziest stuff for last:
“I think it’s good that we end with season five because we’re ending on our own terms. It’s not like someone canceled us and we’re trying to quickly make a season that feels final. This was always the showrunner’s intention to end with five seasons and I’ve actually known that for a little bit and tried to keep my mouth shut about it [Laughs].
But there’s something great about an ending that’s intentional, and The Boys season five is gonna be crazy. It’s gonna be very messy. I don’t know, I just keep thinking a lot of us are probably gonna die. It’s just going to be insane and I’m excited to see what that entails.”
Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Valorie Curry, and Susan Heyward co-star in the series.
Quaid will be seen next year as the lead in the action-thriller “Novocaine”.
