Ryan Reynolds and his production company Maximum Effort Productions has been set to produce a feature film adaptation of the popular cartoon “Mighty Mouse” for Paramount Animation.
“Scoob!” writer Matt Lieberman, who worked with Reynolds on the 2021 fantasy-adventure “Free Guy,” will reportedly pen the script.
Originating as a crime-fighting super-mouse in the 1940s which satirised the popular “Superman” comics, he made his debut in a short film titled “The Mouse of Tomorrow”.
The massively muscled character starred in dozens of other shorts, but really became most famous for the cartoon serials which ran for over three decades up through until the late 1980s with its memorable theme song “Here I Come to Save the Day”.
An attempt was made to revive the property six years ago “The Meg” and “RED” scribes Jon & Erich Hoeber set to script, but that failed to come to fruition.
Reynolds is coming off the success of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” while Maximum Effort renewed its deal with Paramount through 2026.
