Unless you’re a Dick Wolf show, don’t expect a long life on NBC it seems as the network has cancelled its “Quantum Leap” reboot.
Opting not to pick up the series for a third season, the announcement comes over a month after the two-hour second season finale aired on February 20th.
That episode wrapped up many of the storylines but left the door open for a whole new paradigm in its final moments.
It also marks a dramatic reversal of fortune for the series which received a very early second season renewal in December 2022 shortly after the series premiered that September.
The series is set in present day, 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. A new team restarts the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
Raymond Lee, Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee co-starred, whilst Peter Gadiot and Eliza Taylor had key roles in the second season.
Co-showrunners Martin Gero and Dean Georgaris executive produced along with Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer, Alex Berger as well as Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt who developed the reboot.
