With filming well underway on James Gunn’s “Superman,” the rumors about what’s coming in the film haven’t stopped.
Numerous comic book news and rumor sites, YouTube channels, social media accounts and Reddit threads have posted a story in recent days suggesting that David Corenswet’s Kal-El will face a cloned evil version of himself.
As the rumor spread, Gunn himself has taken time out to intercede, debunking the talk and saying in a posting on Threads that the film has a very basic protagonist-antagonist relationship.
In addition, he slams the rumor generation that’s taking place and reminds people nothing is true until he confirms it:
“The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all the stuff is coming from that it’s something other than this.
There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and everytime I strike something down I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?)”
Filming began on Februay 29th and in terms of how much has been shot, Gunn says “we’re probably only 18% or so through it”. As for when we’ll see the reveal of Corenswet in costume, Gunn says “I’m almost ready to show it to you”.
Filming on the new “Superman” is expected to last through late August. The film itself opens in cinemas in July.
