Aramis Knight (“Ms. Marvel,” “Into the Badlands”) and Wyatt Oleff (“IT,” “City on Fire”) have both joined the upcoming “The Karate Kid” movie at Sony Pictures.
The pair join a quickly expanding roster that sees “American Born Chinese” breakout Ben Wang in the title role alongside franchise returnees Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
Also onboard are Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen and Sadie Stanley. Details of Knight and Oleff’s roles are under wraps.
The story will involve a teenager from China moving to the East Coast and beginning to study martial arts through which he finds strength and direction.
Jonathan Entwistle will serve as director from a script written by Rob Lieber. Karen Rosenfelt will produce.
Filming is expected to get underway shortly ahead of a release on December 13th this year. The previous “Karate Kid films have earned $618 million globally.
