Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks have released the entire original short film titled “The Spider Within” which is set in the world of the animated ‘Spider-Verse’ films.
In the short, Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighbourhood superhero.
After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety on a trip through his subconscious.
He ultimately learns that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil. Shameik Moore reprises his Miles Morales role for the short film.
The work is a collaboration with the Kevin Love Fund, created by basketball player Kevin Love, which works to break the stigma surrounding mental health and provides support to those in need.
The project is directed by Jarelle Dampier, penned by Khaila Amazan, with Clara Chan and Joe Darko handling VFX.
The project follows in the wake of “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” last year and “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” which hasn’t set a date as yet.
