20th Century Studios has premiered the first trailer for Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus” ahead of the film’s opening on August 16th.
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The film stars Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), and Aileen Wu.
Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
“Alien: Romulus” is produced by original “Alien” director Ridley Scott and producer Walter Hill along with Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”).
The sci-fi/horror-thriller is said to take the phenomenally successful franchise back to its roots and unfolds in between the events of “Alien” and “Aliens”.
Both Scott and “Aliens” helmer James Cameron have seen it and reportedly loved it. Alvarez tells THR: “[Cameron and Scott’s] notes and comments are completely different. They wouldn’t repeat a note. Whatever Ridley said, Cameron said something different. They were all super smart comments, notes and thoughts on the film and the filmmaking, et cetera, but both of them have completely different approaches.”
“Alien: Romulus” opens in theatres on August 16th.
