CBS has ordered a second season of “NCIS: Sydney,” the first international edition of its NCIS franchise. The order comes as Paramount+ in Australia also picked up the show.
The series was originally planned as a streaming-only release for Paramount+, but, thanks to the strikes, it became a last-minute addition to CBS’ Fall schedule.
It ended up performing well, averaging 6.54 million viewers in Live+7 and ranking first among new series in the fall.
CBS added that “NCIS: Sydney” averaged 8 million cross-platform viewers over five weeks, including streaming on Paramount+ and other CBS apps.
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement:
“The global power of the NCIS franchise became even stronger on broadcast and streaming with the addition of NCIS: Sydney. Our American viewers have fully embraced these engaging characters, unique stories and the fabulous Australian scenery. We are thrilled to bring this show back to CBS next season and spend even more time down under.”
Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes star in the series which follows a joint task force with members of the Australian Federal Police to track naval crimes in the region.
