The announcements are coming thick and fast now. Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed that Skyler Gisondo (Santa Clarita Diet) will play Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, while Portuguese actress/model Sara Sampaio (Billions) is Lex Luthor’s assistant Eve Teschmacher in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

Olsen is a key supporting role, as a friend of both Clark and Superman and support to Lois Lane at the Daily Planet.

Many have played the role before across various media, including Jack Larson, Marc McClure, Michael Landes, Justin Whalin, Sam Huntington, Michael Cassidy, Aaron Ashmore, and Mehcad Brooks.

Ms. Teschmacher first appeared in Richard Donner’s original 1978 Superman, and was created for that movie by writer Mario Puzo. She was memorably played by Valerie Perrine in the first two movies. They join the just-announced Nicholas Hoult taking on the role of Lex Luthor.

With the Authority, plus Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho there are concerns the movie could be overloaded, but remember that Gunn is casting for his entire DCU, especially the first chapter – Gods And Monsters, so some of these roles could be borderline cameos that will sow threads for future instalments, with roles growing elsewhere in the DCU as it expands.

Superman: Legacy will follow a Clark at the beginning of his career at the Daily Planet as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Gunn penned the script and will direct. The movie opens July 11th, 2025.

Is there only Perry White left to announce from the core characters?
