The “Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection” launched on consoles and PC this week and, within one day, developer Aspyr has had to issue a statement.
The launch of the game, a remaster of the original two “Star Wars: Battlefront” titles, has been nothing short of disastrous as server issues, bugs, and more have plagued the game’s launch day.
Connectivity issues are the main problem with over 9,000 logging in on Steam alone to play the game – only to find just three 64-player servers being available at launch.
More servers were added within a few hours, but problems remained rampant with even those getting into servers finding that players cannot spawn, others having issues with aiming. The statement from Aspyr on their official site reads:
“At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.
Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages.
Please continue to report bugs, errors, or unexpected behaviors to our support team via our Request Form.”
Critics reviews have been strong at 83/100 but Steam reviews are “overwhelmingly negative” with around 4,000 reviews counted, and Reddit boards are packed with complaints.
