Expect to see a lot more Death in the upcoming second volume of “The Sandman” on Netflix, with actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste confirming that her character, Dream’s sister Death, will have an expanded role.
The new run of episodes began production last year, was halted by the strikes, and then resumed production in late November. Creator Neil Gaiman previously teased the second run will “take us from Destiny’s garden to Hell, from the Heart of the Dreaming to Ancient Greece and revolutionary France.”
“Killing Eve” star Howell-Baptiste says Death is in more episodes, and the new episodes will focus more on stories involving Dream and his interactions with his various Endless siblings.
Speaking with Collider, she promises “some incredible stories” and says the producers have been listening to fan feedback about the series:
“It’s been fantastic going back actually, because this season, I think fans will be very excited for the episodes. It feels like the show is a two-way street, it’s not just us putting something out, it’s Neil listening, responding to the fans, and then in turn giving them the things that they are asking for, yelling for, begging for.
So I think fans are gonna be really excited to have these stories expanded and have the complexities, and the family and, and all of those dynamics, see them even more this season, this continuation of episodes.”
The series stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Donna Preston as Despair.
Netflix has not announced any second season cast though Barry Sloane is rumored to be playing Destruction with the key roles of Delirium and Destiny still to be named.
