Legendary British actress Miriam Margolyes, who plays Professor Sprout in the “Harry Potter” film franchise, has a take on adult fans of the franchise that may ruffle feathers.
Margolyes portrayed Sprout in 2002’s “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and reprised her role in 2011’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”.
To this day she says she gets requests for Cameo from Harry Potter fans for special occasions.
In a recent interview with New Zeland’s 1News (via Deadline), Margolyes discussed her experience with fans of the franchise and says she was concerned for some of them:
“I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now. It was 25 years ago, and it’s for children. I think it’s for children.
They get stuck in it. I do Cameos, and people say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding, and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”
Despite that concern for some of the fandom, she has nothing but love for the franchise itself: “Harry Potter is wonderful. I’m very grateful to it.”
Warner Bros. is set to revive the franchise with a series adaptation for Max due in 2026.
