By Netflix has announced it has renewed its live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series for two more seasons.
In addition, they’ve confirmed the series will end with the third season. The order means it will allow the show to fully adapt the three-season animated series in full into live-action.
Episode counts, production dates and release dates for those second and third seasons will be announced at a later date
The eight-episode first season was released on February 22nd and quickly jumped to the top of Netflix’s most-watched list even as reviews were mixed.
But the numbers were solid – the series pulling in 21.2 million views and 153.4 million hours viewed in its opening weekend – making the Top 10 in 92 countries. It held well in its first full week with 19.9 million views from Monday to this past Sunday.
Gordon Cormier stars in the series as Aang, a powerful young warrior who must master the four elements to defeat the merciless Fire Nation and restore balance to his war-stricken world.
The series also stars Kiawentiio as waterbender Katara, Ian Ousley as her brother Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.
