By It’s just under six months away, but to date there has been no publicity material released from Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus” feature.
In fact the film’s publicity has mostly been limited to a couple of quotes from interviews such as Alvarez indicating Ridley Scott loved his early director’s cut of the film.
Even the synopsis: “young people from a distant world must face the most terrifying life form in the universe” is vague as hell.
The film’s star Cailee Spaeny probably gave the biggest reveal late last year, saying the film is a standalone story set between the first and second films, but no further details are available.
Now, co-star David Jonsson has spoken with MovieWeb about the film and added his own sentiments:
“I mean, I’m not too sure what I can say just yet, but I know that… it’s very, very, very different. I think ‘Alien’ was slightly before my generation, in terms of its depth and its impact at the time, but you know, we have such an incredible spin on it. And we had Fede Álvarez as our director, Ridley Scott producing it. It was incredible to work with those people, and opposite Cailee Spaeny, who is just a brilliant actress. I think it’s going to be cool. I’m very excited.”
What he means by “very, very, very different” is not clear. Isabela Merced, Archie Reneaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu co-star in the film which Álvarez co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues.
The film, which was originally going to be a”Prey”-style Hulu release, switched gears to a theatrical release last summer. It is scheduled to hit cinemas in August.
