Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender are attached to star in Steven Soderbergh’s new spy thriller “Black Bag”.
Soderbergh is on board to direct from a script by David Keopp, re-teaming the pair who are currently at the Sundance Film Festival with the thriller “Presence” premiering today.
The story of the new film will be set in the United Kingdom, and will be shot in and around London in May. Plot specifics however are under wraps, as are character specifics.
The project arrived with studios and streamers this week as Soderbergh seeks financing and distribution for the film – so no deals are officially set as yet.
The project marks a re-teaming of Soderbergh with former collaborators. He worked with Blanchett on 2006’s “The Good German,” with Fassbender on 2011’s “Haywire,” and Koepp on the pandemic-shot thriller “Kimi”.
Casey Silver and Greg Jacobs are producing. No potential release date is set though if the May shooting date holds it’ll likely be early 2025.
