“The White Lotus” Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge has joined the cast of the live-action “Minecraft” movie which is being filmed in Auckland, New Zealand.
Specifics of the plot and her character are under wraps. She joins Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen in the Jared Hess-directed film which opens April 2025. [Source: Deadline]
Scar Tissue
Universal Pictures has optioned the film rights to Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis’ 2004 memoir “Scar Tissue” with plans to develop it as a biopic. Kiedis, Guy Oseary, and Brian Grazer will produce.
The book deals with Kiedis’ upbringing which saw his father introducing him to drugs at age 11, the death of founding Chili Peppers guitarist Hillel Slovak due to an overdose, and his various relationships over the years. [Source: Rolling Stone]
Big Bad
Following his exit from “Scream VII,” filmmaker Christopher Landon is now attached to direct the werewolf movie “Big Bad,” based on the Chandler Baker short story, at Hidden Pictures and Lionsgate.
Baker will adapt her own story from the anthology novel “Creature Feature” that follows a family of werewolves forced to scavenge after a mudslide. [Source: Deadline]
Suncoast
Hulu has premiered the first trailer for Searchlight’s new dramedy “Suncoast” starring Nico Parker, Laura Linney and Woody Harrelson. Laura Chinn pens and directs the film partially based on Chinn’s life.
Parker plays a teenager trying to navigate life while her brother is dying and in need of constant medical attention. She soon strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist (Harrelson)
Vigil
Peacock has released the trailer for the second season of its British military investigation drama “Vigil” which returns on February 15th – this time switching the navy for the air force.
Suranne Jones’s DCI Amy Silva and Rose Leslie’s DI Kirsten Longacre must conduct an intense internal investigation inside a Scottish military facility following multiple unexplained fatalities. Dougray Scott, Gary Lewis, Romola Garai, Amir El-Masry, and Alastair Mackenzie co-star.
