Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino opted out of directing a “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” follow-up, instead handing a screenplay he has done to David Fincher.
The result is that Fincher is helming the Brad Pitt-led film, which is set to hit IMAX cinemas on November 25th before streaming on Netflix on December 23rd.
For a long time, the film was going to be called “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” but recently underwent a title change to “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth”. Now we may have a reason why.
Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins, will reportedly publish the novel “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” on December 8th. Penned by Quentin Tarantino, the book isn’t a novelisation of the film but rsther “offers Tarantino’s own creative vision for this story in novel form”.
Tarantino published a novelization of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” in 2021 with that book going further into Cliff’s dark past than the film did.
The novel’s logline reads: “The Swinging Sixties are long gone — but Clifford Booth keeps on keeping on… War hero, stuntman, bartender, cinema projectionist… with the occasional ‘clandestine services’ for his friends…”
How much will it differ from the final film? We’ll find out come December.
