It’s official, Paramount Pictures has renamed “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” to just “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”.

The seventh film in the series has also set a January 25th launch date on the Paramount+ streaming service in North America. It will arrive a few weeks later on the service in international markets in February.

The news follows in the wake of a delay of what was called “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” which was supposed to originally arive June 28th 2024 and will now hit May 23rd 2025. With that delay a while back came the news that film would receive a new title.

The news comes after the movie’s theatrical run wasn’t the home run that had been hoped – the film lost amidst the crush that was the Barbenheimer cultural event.

Despite critical acclaim, the film grossed $567.5 million at the global box-office from a budget of $219 million – down from the $690-790 million its three predecessors grossed on budgets that came in considerably less.

Filming is set to continue on the eighth film for a good chunk of this year and will potentially mark the end of the franchise.
