What did you get in your Christmas stocking? Was it an unnecessary and unwanted sequel? George Clooney confirmed that there is already a script for Ocean’s 14, and it is entirely separate from the attempt to re-capture Barbie lightning in a bottle by casting Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

The Playlist has confirmed that Clooney and producing partner Grant Heslov co-wrote the script. Apparently they reached out to original remake trilogy director Steven Soderbergh to see if he was interested. He declined and didn’t even want to read the script.

He previously said back in 2008 that he wasn’t interested in doing any more in the wake of Bernie Mac’s passing. He scored a producer credit on Oceans 8.

Clooney may direct the film himself, or pick somebody else so he can enjoy the shoot with the rest of the reassembled crew. The original three movies were somewhat famous for their onset atmosphere being one of fun and hijinx, with poker clubs, pranks and partying weaved into the Vegas, and other location, shoots.

Cost and cast availability will need to be worked through, as just about every member of the first team is A-list or A-list adjacent.
