Majors Out At Marvel

Following yesterday’s verdict in the court case against him, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Jonathan Majors has been fired from Marvel. The fall was as swift as the rise was meteoric. This comes just a few hours after a jury found Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment.

This all stems from a public altercation over a phone with his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, in a taxi and then in the street back in March. The verdict is something of a surprise to those who have seen the CCTV footage of the incident, as that appears to show an hysterical Jabbari aggressively pursuing a fleeing Majors over some significant distance, who seems to be attempting to distance himself from her.

Jabbari, a 30-year-old dancer, accused Majors of an attack inside the vehicle that left her in “excruciating” pain. She said he struck her in the head, twisted her arm behind her back and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured.

Majors’s lawyers said she was the aggressor, alleging that she flew into a rage after reading a text message on his phone sent by another woman. They said Jabbari had spread a “fantasy” to take down the actor, who was only trying to regain his phone and get away safely. They added Jabbari went out dancing with strangers straight after the alleged abusive encounter.

Jabbari admitted this, but said she was seeking comfort from those who came to her aid on a street corner following the assault.

Majors was to be a key figure within the MCU going forward as a main villain. He was one of the top rising actors in Hollywood with acclaimed performances in Lovecraft Country, Creed III, and Da 5 Bloods. After an introduction in season one of Loki, and then the main villain role in Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania, his Kang the Conqueror was set to be the nemesis behind Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to open in May 2026.

That project will still proceed, now referred to internally at Marvel as Avengers 5. Kang would be the third major character to be recast in the MCU following Terrence Howard and Edward Norton being replaced by Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo respectively.

Majors’ award-favorite body-building drama Magazine Dreams remains in limbo with distributor Searchlight pulling it from the schedules. And just like that, the #MeToo and tax-dodging moralistic judges of Hollywood make another a non-person.
