Filmmakers Phil Lord & Christopher Miller have given a brief update on how production on “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is doing.

The pair produced and co-write the films along with creatively steering the trilogy which began with 2018’s original “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and continued with this year’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.

The latter closed with a cliffhanger ahead of a third one that was originally aimed to release on March 29th next year before the strikes and other events saw it pushed. It currently has no release date.

Miller, appearing at a Q&A alongside Lord and others involved in the film (with a video posted by Twitter@TheJonathanSim), said this week in answer to a question about the current status of the third film:

“We’re in production… we’re really excited about where the story is going, I think it’s a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and it’s as emotional as the other ones…we’re knee-deep in it.”

The first two films were released to acclaim and strong box-office, though a feature piece in Vulture going into the working conditions on the films was the first to suggest delays were inevitable for the third one which wasn’t as far along as hoped.
