Microsoft and Kojima Productions have announced “OD,” a new collaboration between gaming icon Hideo Kojima (“Metal Gear Solid,” “Death Stranding”) and filmmaker Jordan Peele (“Nope,” “Get Out”).
Announced at the Game Awards 2023, the project will star “IT” actress Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schaffer, and the one and only Udo Kier. It is said to be “for all players and screamers”.
The three actors can be seen in individually in close-up in the clip released, each repeating the sentence: “The hungry purple dinosaur ate the kind, zingy fox, the jabbering crab, and the mad whale and started vending and quacking.”
Said sentence is one that contains all the phoentic sounds in English. Using a translator, Kojima says: “OD is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie, but at the same time a new form of media.”
The game is being made in partnership with Xbox Game Studios and so has nothing to do with his upcoming “Death Stranding” sequel which is also in the works.
It’s also not Kojima’s first time trying to make a horror game. He famously was working on “Silent Hills” before that project was scrapped by Konami, resulting in only the now near impossible to find playable teaser called “P.T.”.
Kojima also hints that other giants of the horror genre are also involved.
