Rockstar Games has confirmed that the first trailer for “Grand Theft Auto VI” will launch online on Tuesday December 5th at 9am US-ET. The trailer will arrive in time to mark the company’s 25th anniversary.
Rockstar confirmed back in February last year that active development for the game was well underway but kept details about it secret.
Then, just over a year ago, a massive data leak saw more than an hour of development footage from the title leaking online and confirmed previous reports of a setting in Vice City (the GTA equivalent of Miami) and the title featuring a female Latina protagonist.
The leaks indicated both a playable male and female character and a new conversation mechanic similar to “Red Dead Redemption 2”.
It’s expected the new title will be released either late 2024 or early 2025 as Rockstar owner Take-Two has teased the release of “several groundbreaking titles” which should lead to a major sales jump in that fiscal year.
“Grand Theft Auto V,” which was released in 2013, has reached over 190 million units sold worldwide.
