Despite some social media negativity towards “The Marvels,” the film is still on track to open next Friday and has now topped a new poll of the most anticipated titles for the rest of the year.
Fandango’s poll says the title came out on top of other titles coming in the next two months with the runners up being “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” “Wonka,” “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” and “Napoleon”.
As none of the actors can promote the film, Marvel Studios is getting into the promotional spirit by releasing clips and promos left and right – some of which you can see below.
The push for the film comes as the headlines Marvel has been making since the weekend have been much more about a joke by “Avengers: Endgame” co-director Joe Russo that has drawn a backlash online.
A TikTok video last week from Martin Scorsese’s daughter Francesca showed the famed director talking to his dog, Oscar, about casting him in a film. Russo responded with an Instagram video involving his own dog and jokingly calling him ‘Box Office’.
Seen as a jab at Scorsese’s comments about Marvel films not being ‘cinema’, the video has drawn the ire on social media of not just cinephiles but even Marvel fanboys, writers and executives according to Variety with plenty taking shots at Russo’s “The Grey Man” as compared to Scorsese’s “The Irishman” and “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
“The Marvels” is out in cinemas on November 10th.
