Reviews are in for the first batch of episodes for the second season of Prime Video’s animated series “Invincible” and with 14 reviews counted, the show has snagged great reviews.

The episodes have landed a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes along with an 8.5/10 average rating. Over on Metacritic, it’s up to an 80/100 which actually puts it as the 15th highest-rated show of the year just ahead of “Mrs. Davis,” “Lockwood & Co.,” “Justified: City Primeval” and “Dead Ringers”.

The second season continues the adaptation of the unconventional superhero comic which ran from 2003-2018 and hailed from “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman alongside Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley.

It has taken nearly two years to get to air but at last the new season is coming. Here’s a sampling of review quotes:

“As superhero fatigue becomes more pervasive, Invincible returns, and it’s as thoughtful, gory, and hilarious as ever.” – Eric Franciso, Inverse

“Rather than trying to surprise you with huge, unexpected twists, this season really tries to let you sit with the weight of things before piling more on and highlighting how much heavier things have gotten.” – Charles Pulliam-Moore, The Verge

“It’s the heart that will keep Invincible compulsive watching – too many superhero shows and movies forget to be actually about something relatable amid the madness.” – Luke Y. Thompson, SuperHeroHype

“In the rubble of the first season’s painful revelations, Season 2 of Invincible charts a soaring new path that also carries with it the weight of all that has been lost. Though just as bloody as ever, its greatest strength lies in its characters.” – Chase Hutchinson, Collider

“Invincible grasps why (and how) superhero media should remain at the forefront of the pop culture conversation: as a character piece first, a superhero spectacle second.” – Bradley Russell, Total Film

“With an updated animation style, new threats, and a more personal story, Invincible season 2 re-establishes itself as the best superhero show.” – Cooper Hood, Screen Rant

There is expected to be a much shorter gap between future seasons of “Invincible” with voice recording of the third season already complete. The first four episodes of the second season premiere on November 3rd with the remaining four episodes to air in early 2024.
