The police try to catch a killer in See How They Run, the feature debut of director Tom George.

Things should have been jolly around the theater. Their play was a hit on the West End and plans for a movie version were in the works when a crew member turns up dead. A seasoned inspector and an eager young constable show up to solve the mystery, but in the cramped quarters of the theater people and tension are thick. Sorting through the possible scenarios will take time, time that none of the burgeoning stars wish to give them.

It’s a classic whodunit, one that adds to the genre’s increasing popularity. Back in the day, you’d get these star-studded affairs all the time, but only in recent years have they come back into favor. This will be on the comedic end of the spectrum (more Knives Out than Murder on the Orient Express), and with Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, Harris Dickinson, Ruth Wilson, David Oyelowo, and a whole raft of other people starring, you should get your money’s worth.

Trying to hold the project together is George, who made his name with the series This Country. While this is his first feature, he’s got an excellent cast and a well-worn blueprint to follow. This should be a safe bet.

See How They Run is directed by Tom George and stars Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan, and Adrien Brody. It will be released in the UK on September 9th and in the US on September 16th.
